Free Tool #1: Jing
From the makers of Snagit, Jing is like Snagit but simpler—and free (there are paid versions as well). Jing lets you snag an image, edit it AND share with just a few quick clicks. BTW, it’s software but it’s available for Mac and PC.

Free Tool #2: Slidepoint.Net
Slidepoint.net is a free online presentation platform that lets you upload PowerPoints, or create your own presentations using the online editor (similar to PowerPoint). For Apple users, the good news is it’s 100% HTML, not Flash, so it works everywhere! Also, embedding a presentation on your website, online courses, etc, is easy.

Free Tool #3: Online Quiz Maker
Every quiz maker out there has its pros and cons, but if time and technical ability are issues, check out Online Quiz Maker. Offered in both free and paid versions, it has all the essentials you need. While you might expect us to say something like this, it’s true: Online Quiz Maker is certainly not a replacement for an expensive and sophisticated quiz authoring tool, but for most purposes, it is very capable.

Free Tool #4: Google Docs
So, maybe you’re asking yourself: How is Docs useful for e-learning?
The fact of the matter is, no matter where you are, you can stay connected with Google Docs. But beyond that there are really two benefits for e-learning: One, it’s great when you’ve got more than one person working on a project, giving you control over sharing and editing privileges for other viewers. After that, all you have to do is email!
Two, Google Docs is a free place for them to do work where you can always track their progress.
